richard schwartz Just when we thought it couldn't get any better... This album is simply magnificent! How does he do it? Ruttenberg's music soars up into the ethos and then dives down deep into our very souls. The title track, Cold Fusion, surpasses even this amazing artist's best work to date. I loved this album and can't wait for his next!

"Ruttenberg, Haslip & Crockett" have redefined the definition of the phrase "Cold Fusion" with the release of this latest recording. Every time Maestro Ruttenberg casts his musical shadow against the backdrop of the Universe, he makes the unknown suddenly familiar. Nostalgia for the future is a gift very few Composers have, and Richard undeniably has a boundless creative consciousness."
-Dann Glenn/Composer

"I really like Swan, the first track. The harmony is really good, and challenging to get your head round, halfway between jazz and etonal, with a great feel. Also the title track Cold fusion, touches of Donald Fagin...... I love the timing on the some of the clusters of things in there..... great perc groove. I also really like Apollo, and they grow on you".
-Jonathan Kerr aka Jo Kerr, Composer of Thomas Dolby's She Blinded Me With Science.

"Very nice! The project is intriguing.
It’s fascinating stuff, you should keep doing it"!
- Benny Rietveld (Bass player and band leader for Santana).

Art for the Ears...I'm new to the Ruttenberg catalog, but upon hearing Cold Fusion, I became a fan rather instantaneously! First, this music is very well thought out - that much is clear. Ruttenberg's advanced use of chords is mesmerizing and dreamy and really lays an inspiring bed of harmonic inspiration for the combined massive talents of bassist Jimmy Haslip & Guitarist Kevin Crockett. This is music that really takes us to very nice places... Standouts for me: 1) Swan - Ruttenberg lays down a superbly blissful keyboard playground for Haslip to play around in harmonically and his bass soloing sounds alluringly sweet here. 2) Cold Fusion - the title cut is a remarkable melody that really has a lot of harmonic tentacles that Crockett & Haslip blow over in interesting & inspiring ways. 3) Big Fat Willis - ends the set with imaginative playing by Crockett and plenty of fancy colours splashed throughout the tune by Ruttenberg and Haslip. There is an "otherworldly" quality to this music that is entrancing and really draws the listener in. But in the same breath - it's "World Music" with Richard's own fresh fusion bent. Adding to all of this is Ruttenberg's own fine playing throughout backed up splendidly by his supporting cast. Makes me want to hear a lot more. Recommended!
-Brian Grace (Saxophonist/jazz fusion composer/fellow Berklee alum)

I’ve listened to the Cold Fusion album and it was fascinating all the way through. It contains a unique, amazing sound that Richard & team crafted and mastered brilliantly. It is an excellent and unparalleled album, which I especially recommend to anyone who appreciates great quality music. You will most certainly not be disappointed -David Nicholas (Keyboardist for Young Flames et al).
